Look At The Brighter Side!

2020, a year many looked forward to.

However, as the year began, countless unexpected and worrying incidents haven taken place, from the fears of a World War 3, Australian bush fires, to the volcano eruption in Indonesia, Kobe Bryant's death and now, the Covid-19 pandemic.

Yes, the quarantine is the least preferred situation to be in at the moment. But, we can make full use of our time in quarantine to improve ourselves and help others, as well. If we have hobbies or skills that we have always been interested in, now is the time for us to learn them! Well, even if you have never had something new that you wanted to do, it's alright because there are many things you can do such as learning to play an instrument, learning a new language, or even simpler things like watching a TV series.

And if you prefer being around others, no worries, you can do that as well! The quarantine period does not account to isolation! We are all well versed with the functions of the Internet, so you can use this time as an opportunity to reconnect with old friends that you have lost touch with. Additionally, we can also help the senior citizens in our neighborhood in getting necessities as they are at higher risk of contracting it.

As we are seemingly barely able to catch a break, it's times like this where we should cooperate with one another instead of pushing each other down. The coronavirus has given way to a rise of discrimination among people. Initially, regardless whether it is done intentionally or not, many showed prejudiced and discriminatory behaviors toward anyone who looked remotely Chinese, even if many of them were not. If anyone said they had travelled to China or is from China, they are automatically seen in a different light, as if they are infected and somehow, deserve to be treated differently apparently.

Even now, we blame others who neglect the social distancing orders as the reason of the extension of the quarantine. But, isn't that similar to blaming people who still use items that are not eco-friendly for the damage caused to the environment? And yet, people still use them. So, putting the blame on others doesn't stop them from doing it. Therefore, the blame is unnecessary as it only causes stress, anxiety and adding fuel to the fire.

Instead, focus on our self-improvement and the people we love!
